Child pornography found on doctor's computer

A 58-year-old Orange County doctor turned himself in to the police when an arrest warrant was issued in his name for sex crimes. He was charged with a count of felony possession of child pornography and released on a $50,000 bond.The doctor is alleged to have images of children and teenagers who were engaging in sex acts. The files were stored on his work computer and were discovered by a computer technician who was installing new software on the office system. It is not believed that the doctor had any actual contact with the children in the pictures.

Multiple shootings in the Oakland area

Two murders took place within four hours of each other on the night of Dec. 7 in the Oakland area. That Saturday, there was another apparent murder near Jack London Square. A woman, who as pronounced dead at the scene, was shot in her home on Longfellow Avenue. Her boyfriend, who lived with her and fathered one of her children, was arrested in connection with the shooting. Police report that he called and admitted to killing his girlfriend. The couple argued prior to the shooting and had a history of domestic violence.

California task force commander pleads guilty to stealing drugs

The former commander of a Northern California drug task force has agreed to a plea arrangement in which he will enter a guilty plea to five counts of drug charges and corruption stemming from an investigation into his conduct with a private investigator. The former cop was accused of stealing drugs as well as owning a brothel and robbing prostitutes. He will plead to charges including possession, distribution and
sale of narcotics; illegal search and seizure; and theft from a federally-funded program.The former leader of the Central Costa County Narcotics Enforcement Team was working with a private investigator when he allegedly opened a massage parlor that was actually a front for a prostitution ring. He was also accused of conducting sting operations on similar brothels while using police protection for his own operation.

High-speed chase ends in murder charge for Palmdale man

A California man is facing a charge of murder after he allegedly led authorities on a high-speed chase that ended when his car broadsided a vehicle with two occupants inside, a girl and her mother. The girl was killed in the crash and her mother received serious injuries. The 45-year-old man who was charged with murder also faces a charge of felony evading an officer causing injury.

Man faces felony DUI charge in car crash

A 44-year-old Fairfield man was parked on the shoulder of Highway 29 with his hazard lights flashing while using his cellphone. He glanced in his rear-view mirror just in time to see a pick-up truck driven by a 32-year-old Napa man slam into the rear of his vehicle at a high rate of speed. Both vehicles were badly damaged, and the Napa man was treated for a possible broken jaw. The man driving the pick-up was arrested after he was released from the hospital and charged with suspicion of felony DUI. Other charges pertaining to the accident may be pending as well. The driver facing possible drunk driving charges may want to consider seeking the services of an experienced DUI attorney.
