2 men accused of robbing person in front of 7-Eleven

Police in California surrounded a home on Nov. 17 before detaining two men who were reportedly hiding inside. Police claim that the two 24-year-old men had just committed violent crimes near a convenience store in South San Jose. The men were booked at Santa Clara County jail for charges of making criminal threats and brandishing a weapon.

The alleged criminal incident was first reported around 2:10 a.m. According to the caller, the two accused men had held a victim at gunpoint in front of a 7-Eleven store in the area of Santa Teresa Boulevard and Cahalan Avenue. One of the men had allegedly struck the victim's face before he and the other man made off with some of the victim's personal property.

After the men left the scene, police located them at a residence on Santa Teresa Boulevard and surrounded the home. The men were taken into custody with a $76,000 bail option. It is unclear what type of personal property police believe the men stole from the alleged victim. It was not reported if any further charges are pending.

When a robbery incident involves a weapon, violence or threats of violence, charges that are laid against the accused person have the potential to be more severe. A criminal defense attorney could help a defendant by challenging police reports and witness testimony of the alleged robbery. If there is strong evidence against a defendant, which could lead to a conviction at a trial, an attorney could negotiate a plea agreement with less severe penalties or reduced charges.
