Police say man involved in crash was intoxicated

A California man was recently taken into custody in Los Angeles on suspicion of drunk driving. Media sources say that the incident took place on the night of Dec. 7.

Sources indicate that the man allegedly crashed into two cars at the corner of Croesus and Santa Ana streets. Officers say the man fled the scene of the crash on foot, but he was apprehended a short time later. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident.

Due to the man's impaired state, he was taken to a local medical facility as a precaution, according to reports. The precise causes and circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.

In order to charge someone with DUI, prosecutors might need to present evidence implicating a defendant's intoxication at the time he or she was actually driving. While police employ various methods of testing one's sobriety during the course of a DUI investigation, these methods could be inaccurate in some cases and may lead to an unreliable result. As such, a defense attorney reviewing a DUI case may scrutinize the evidence against their client and work to refute it wherever possible.

If someone has been charged with DUI, they may face serious long-term consequences, including having a conviction on their record that can make it difficult to secure employment in the future. For this reason, someone charge with DUI may wish to contact an attorney to represent them before the prosecution. In some cases, it may be possible to negotiate with prosecutors to reduce the charges to a lesser offense or perhaps even dismiss them altogether.
