California drug house is shut down

A drug house in the eastern part of San Diego County has been shut down by public health officials. Multiple people were apprehended on narcotics charges including possession of drug paraphernalia and controlled substances intended for sale. Police said the owner of the house will be charged with operating a drug house.

On July 9 at about 5:30 in the morning, deputies served a search warrant at the house in Lakeside in the 9000 block of Creekford Drive. Inside the house they found a half-pound bag of methamphetamine and a hash-oil lab. Ten people were taken into custody. Hash oil involves the highly flammable gas butane. Illegal hash oil labs have caused fires and explosions in San Diego County. After an investigation by a county hazardous materials team, the Lakeside house was declared unfit for habitation and condemned.

The people who were apprehended were booked on drug charges into county jail. According to a police sergeant, some of the people involved were wanted on other felony and misdemeanor charges as well.

Drug charges are serious, and someone who has been charged on a narcotics violation could be facing serious penalties including fines and incarceration. Those who have been charged with drug possession, drug trafficking or other drug charges may want to have the assistance of a criminal defense attorney to help them fight or reduce the charges. An attorney could protect the rights of the defendant and work toward getting charges dropped or reduced. A willingness to enter drug rehabilitation or to get other similar types of treatment could be alternative sentencing options that the attorney could attempt to negotiate with the prosecutor.
