21 alleged gang members taken into custody

California authorities reportedly took 21 members of a notorious street gang called Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13, into custody on May 17. Federal prosecutors also indicted 44 people, which included those 21 as well as others who were already in custody. The charges the individuals were facing ranged from extortion to murder.

Police say California man is responsible for 2004 killings

A 38-year-old California man taken into custody for allegedly murdering his brother has also been accused of killing a couple on a beach in August 2004. The man has pleaded not guilty in the charges related to his brother. Charges related to the couple's death have not yet been filed.

Suspects arrested for stabbing and assault incident

California residents may be interested to know that three individuals have been taken into custody for their part in a gang-related stabbing that occurred on Friday, April 21, 2017. According to a news release issued by the San Mateo Police Department, officers responding to a report of a physical altercation on the 500 block of North Delaware Street discovered the incident at around 10 p.m.

3 people plead guilty to murder charges

On Feb. 6, two individuals pleaded guilty in a California courtroom to two separate first-degree murder charges. The accused individuals are a 24-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman who were described as transients. Both of the incidents occurred in San Francisco in 2015, but the incidents were two days apart. A third individual, a 25-year-old man, had already pleaded guilty to second-degree murder charges for his involvement in the incidents.

2 men plead not guilty to fatally shooting a Marine

On Nov. 30, two California men pleaded not guilty to charges related to the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old Marine. The 26-year-old and 28-year-old defendants are accused of shooting the Marine while he was driving in South Los Angeles on Sept. 16. According to the criminal complaint, the Marine was speaking with the defendants before the 26-year-old defendant shot him with a handgun.
