Woman charged after drugs found during probation visit

On Sept. 10, California authorities allegedly discovered drugs in a woman's home during a probation visit. The 34-year-old was subsequently taken into custody, and she was charged with various felonies.

The report stated that the home visit was conducted by officers from the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections and the 14th Judicial Task Force. The home visit was conducted to check if the accused woman was complying with the terms of her probation sentence for other charges. Once inside, the officers reportedly seized an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia consistent with the use of both drugs. Additionally, officers also claim that they found a shotgun and a loaded pistol.

The woman faces felony charges for possessing methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a firearm. She was released from the Marion County Jail after posting a $7,500 bond on Sept. 11. It was not known when her next court appearance was scheduled to be.

In the state of California, accusations of drug possession are taken very seriously. If the person is convicted on drug-related charges, they could potentially face serious consequences that could include a prison sentence, probation and fines. The severity of the potential consequences depends upon certain factors, including whether or not the accused person has prior drug convictions as well as the amount and type of drugs that were allegedly seized by authorities.

When an individual is charged with drug-related offenses, he or she could decide to enlist the help of a criminal defense attorney who might able to contest the accusations. In some situations, an attorney could question the legality of a search conducted by authorities. The attorney could arrange a plea deal that helps mitigate some of the consequences as well.
