Two arrests made in Redding narcotics raid

Agents assigned to a Northern California task force have been busy executing search warrants and making arrests in the month of June. An automotive chrome shop was raided by officers from the Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force in early June, and the raid resulted in two arrests in addition to the confiscation of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.

The businesshad been the focus of an investigation dating back to an drug possession arrest made last year. The owner of the shop was eventually convicted of operating a business as a front to sell methamphetamine and marijuana. The girlfriend of the owner took over the business as the agents conducted an investigation.

Although the woman suspected of running the drug distribution business was not found in the shop or at her residence, agents found a pound of marijuana and arrested an individual who works and lives in the shop. Another man arrived while the agents were at the shop, and he was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine. The officers then traveled to the suspect's residence where they found more methamphetamine and a loaded revolver.

Investigations carried out by task forces tend to feature many arrests and multiple charges filed against suspects, but these law enforcement actions are not always carried out effectively. A legal defense strategy is to review how the agents conducted the investigation and arrest, as task forces that feature members of different agencies can be uncoordinated. Attorneys representing defendants facing drug charges can work on obtaining the best outcome for their clients, and this could include participating in a drug diversion program.
